Victor Sluzhkin takes a job as a geography teacher at a secondary school in his hometown of Perm (in the Urals), where he gets lost in a blur of strong vodka, desperate love for a nymphet-like student, and the pressures of instructing teens. In a rafting trip to the Urals, Geographer, as the pupils dub him, tries to get away from the arduous, dull, and suffocating reality of Russian provincial life. Geographer is set to find himself and his own truth, accompanied by wild, adventure-seeking youngsters and confronted with the various terrible surprises of nature.
