The Harder They Fall

Nick Benko, a shady fight promoter, hires a jobless sportswriter named Eddie Willis to promote an unknown Argentinian boxer named Toro Moreno. Moreno is a big, strong guy, but he has a weak punch and a weak jaw, which hurts his chances of being successful. Benko takes advantage of Willis's reputation for honesty and standing in the boxing world to set up a series of fixed fights that make the unexperienced Moreno the number one contender for the title. Buddy Brannen, the current champion, is angry that Toro has been getting so much attention and promises to beat him badly in the ring. Eddie has to decide now if he should tell the innocent Toro the truth or not.
