The Island of Lies

2 January 1921, Galicia, northern Spain. The vessel Santa Isabel falls off the shore of Sálvora Island, carrying more than 200 emigrants heading for Argentina. The cynical authorities regard three island women, Mara, Josefa, and Cipriana, who valiantly set sail aboard a flimsy skiff to help the stranded, as heroes; nevertheless, León, an inquisitive and tenacious Argentinean journalist, begins to explore difficult questions.
