Tae-su learns that power is the most essential thing in life and intends to become a prosecutor, the most visible emblem of authority in the 1990s. After attending the most renowned law school and facing democratic resistance in Korea, Tae-su achieves his ambition of becoming a prosecutor, but his life is no better than that of a salaryman. By happenstance, he is invited to join a group of wealthy and influential prosecutors. He finally gets a taste of a life at the top of the hierarchy, but as he savors the richness of power, he also observes its vicious side.
