Bridget Gregory (Linda Fiorentino), the femme fatale villain, is looking for a way out of her miserable marriage, so she encourages her husband, Clay (Bill Pullman), to distribute cocaine. She then takes the proceeds for herself and leaves her husband in the lurch. She makes a pit stop in a quaint little hamlet on her way to Chicago, and it's there that she snags her next suitor, insurance agent Mike Swale (Peter Berg). After acquiring a job at his insurance company, Bridget persuades Mike to participate in a fraud, but things take a sinister turn when she enlists his assistance in getting rid of her husband. Bridget's plan is ultimately unsuccessful.
