1917 in Palestine. The Turkish line between Gaza and Beersheba has halted the British advance. The latest attempt to attack Gaza was unsuccessful. A mounted infantry regiment from Australia, the Light Horse, was among the attacking forces. Frank, a light horseman, is hurt in a fight with Bedouin. Dave, a young soldier who replaces him, is a skilled marksman but is hesitant to open fire on the enemy. During a raid by German biplanes, Dave shows his worth. While hospitalized for recovery, he strikes up a friendship with Anne, a caring nurse. An aggressive flanking attack on Beersheba is required of the regiment. But how can you persuade the Turks that Gaza will be the primary target of their attack? When there's no water in the desert, what strategy do you use for an assault?
