The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernandez

Rex is an elderly man who is resentful of having never achieved celebrity and living a meaningless life. He ends up in a nursing home staffed entirely by Latin American immigrants after having a stroke. Disappointed by the situation, he concentrates his efforts on escaping, which puts him at conflict with the Latino laborers. Their friendship, however, takes on new significance as it is revealed that he once shook hands with Vicente Fernandez, a Mexican musician, producer, and actor who is admired throughout Latin culture. Employees quickly begin to regard Rex as the celebrity he's always desired.
