Everything in Stanley Ipkiss's life shifts when he stumbles onto a mysterious mask that contains the spirit of the Norse god Loki. He was working as a bank clerk at the time. Ipkiss transforms into a supernatural playboy and exudes charisma and self-assurance when wearing the mask. This enables him to attract the attention of Tina Carlyle, a singer who performs in a local nightclub. Unfortunately, while under the effect of the mask, Ipkiss steals money from a bank, which enrages a junior criminal boss named Dorian Tyrell. Tyrell's thugs end up getting the credit for the theft.
