In order to stave off an impending pandemic, Prince Prospero has invited the aristocracy of the area to his castle for safety. An all-red-hooded stranger enters the debaucherous setting of his masked party, which all of his guests are required to attend. In the belief that the apparition is Satan, Prospero is horrified to discover that he is in fact a demon disguise.
