A Royal Navy sailor is enticed into divulging details of a dream in which eight people take off from Bangkok in a Dakota destined for Tokyo and crash in the Japanese highlands at a posh dinner party in Hong Kong. Air Marshal Hardie, who is scheduled to fly to Tokyo the next day, is among those who are listening. Hardie rejects the dream at first since he is set to fly off in a Liberator. However, upon arrival at the airport, Hardie discovers that the Liberator has developed technical problems and has been substituted by a Dakota. When two soldiers join the plane shortly before the flight is scheduled to depart, Hardie fears that the dream is coming true and he is doomed to die.
