The Ninth Configuration
Col. Vincent Kane is a military doctor who is in charge of an army mental institution located in a remote castle. Col. Kane is married with two children. Capt. Billy Cutshaw, a disturbed astronaut in the throes of an existential crisis, is one of Kane's numerous oddball patients. Despite the fact that Kane's own sanity is in doubt, he manages to engage Cutshaw in a series of intellectual debates about science and faith that have a profound impact on the lives of both men.
