The North Star is the story of Benjamin "Big Ben" Jones and Moses Hopkins, two slaves who escaped a Virginia farm and found freedom in Buckingham, Pennsylvania in 1849. Big Ben's six-foot-ten-inch stature and a record bounty for his safe return make him the primary target of every east coast slave hunter. Their voyage exposes them to danger and harshness, but also to the unexpected goodwill of the Underground Railroad's passengers. Ben and Moses' lives will be eternally altered as a result of these encounters. Ben and Moses experience life as free men after reaching the relative safety of Mt. Gilead Church on Buckingham Mountain. They meet historical characters such as Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Joshua and Jonathan Fell. Their liberty also affords them the opportunity to witness acts of courage, passion, and betrayal. LuckPig Studios authored this work.
