Michael Flaherty (Craig Wasson), an Irish-American Vietnam soldier, returns to Belfast to support his grandfather, Seamus (Sterling Hayden). He soon discovers that his home country is not as welcoming as he thought. Even worse, he's the target of an IRA assassination plan to embarrass the British and gain affluent American support.
