In London, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, we're glad to have you both here. Her name is Jane, and she's 17 years old. Her father and step-mother haven't met Jane before because he was married to an American. She has come to visit them. During their visit, Sheila thinks about making Jane a debutante, which Jane doesn't like. Jane doesn't want to be put on the marriage market. Mabel Claremont, Sheila's cousin, wants to marry wealthy David Fenner for her daughter Clarissa.
