Two cowboys named Ben (Glenn Ford) and Marion (Henry Fonda) are breaking down wild horses to make a little money, but they work hard. Because Jim (Chill Wills), who always wins, always talks them into taking a horse instead of some of their pay, they agree. Ben finds out that the horse can't be ridden, so he comes up with the idea of taking it to a rodeo and betting other cowhands that they can't ride it, too.
