An earthquake takes the lives of a little British girl who was born and raised in India but who had been neglected by her parents. In order to reside in her uncle's castle in England, she is repatriated to her homeland. Her uncle has become estranged from her as a result of the death of his wife eleven years earlier. She discovers a garden that has been shut and neglected after being neglected again again. She begins renovating the garden with the assistance of one of the servants' boys, and in the process uncovers some of the manor's other mysteries.
