The Square

One of Jehane Noujaim's latest films, "The Square," examines the day-to-day struggles of those attempting to establish a new democracy in Egypt. It takes us on a journey that spans 2011 and 2012, bringing us face-to-face with the people who were fighting for their lives. The film, which follows various teenage activists at Cairo's Tahrir Square, has its heart and soul there. Since Mubarek's downfall they have been armed with values and resolve, music, humor, a plethora of social media, and pure stubbornness. People and the state are still engaged in a life-or-death conflict.
