The Straight Story

Alvin Straight, a retired farmer and widower in his 70s, gets the news one day that his estranged brother Lyle has had a stroke and may not recover from it. However, Alvin's brother resides in Wisconsin, and Alvin is stuck in Iowa with no car and no driver's license. Despite this, Alvin is adamant about making things right with Lyle while he still has the opportunity to do so. Then, he has the bright idea of making the journey on his old lawnmower, which marks the beginning of a journey that is both picturesque and, at times, profoundly spiritual.
