Mark Jansen, a widower, owns and operates the local newspaper in the Midwest town where he grew up. While he struggles to make ends meet, his daughter seizes control of his happiness by visiting the town's famous wishing well and praying for just that - his happiness. Soon afterwards, a lovely woman by the name of Cynthia Tamerline arrives in town. Cynthia, accompanied by Mark's children, makes her own trip to the well and makes a wish. When she awakens the following morning, she discovers that she has been transferred to an other dimension, which will forever alter her.
