The Nazis are after Marie, a woman who escaped from a concentration camp and is on the run. Wolfe Kristan, the lighthouse keeper, saves her. She is brought inside the lighthouse, where she starts to fall in love with the assistant keeper, who is a British spy who doesn't know it. They become more intimate, which makes Kristan jealous. Finally, he pushes himself over the edge and into full-blown madness.
