When Alex, a 15-year-old California girl, came out as gay to her devout Mormon parents, they were terrified for her soul and sent her to a Utah conversion therapy facility against her will. The story is based on an actual true story that has been made into a movie. In a bid to cure Alex of her homosexuality, she was held captive for eight months by a group of strangers. In order to live, Alex realized that she would have to accept their regulations in order to attend school. She established acquainted with a boy who was the president of the GSA. The attorney he referred Alex to helped her get out of prison.
