In battles, the children of Ballydowse and Carrickdowse took off their opponents' buttons, shoelaces, and underpants. This is being done in order to get the guys in problems with their parents. They fight in large groups of dozens, throwing stones and chopping off their opponents' buttons, among other things. They also go into battle naked and uncovered on occasion. In one scenario, 30 boys return from a battle to a barn-house to celebrate victory, only to find some girls waiting for them.
