The human race has been wiped off, and the fantastical races of antiquity have emerged to occupy the world in a post-apocalyptic future. To fulfill an ancient prophecy, a queen of the faeries gives birth to twin wizards, one good and one evil. They are doomed to meet in a conflict that will wipe out the new planet's population. The evil son, Blackwolf, is a mutant and is exiled from the community. He wants to find out how to use old weapons and destroy things to get back at people and rule the world. Avatar, the virtuous son, is a human being who wishes to prevent the carnage and sadness that are predicted. As a result of Blackwolf's botched assassination attempts on his brother, Avatar is compelled to gather the necessary resources to fight him.
