Maria Altmann, an octogenarian Jewish immigrant, fights the Austrian government to reclaim a world-famous painting of her aunt that was stolen by the Nazis during World War II and that she feels belongs to her family. She did so not just to reclaim what was legally hers, but also to seek some measure of retribution for the Nazis' mass murders, destruction, and art theft.
