Since June6,1978, ABC has carried the American television newsmagazine 20/20. The program, created by ABC News executive Roone Arledge, was modeled after CBS's 60 Minutes but concentrates on human-interest stories rather than foreign and political topics. The name of the program is derived from the"20/20" visual acuity assessment. Since September1987, when it moved from Thursdays to Fridays, the hour-long program has primarily aired on Friday evenings, while special editions are periodically broadcast on other nights.
