Will Freeman has it made as the perfect man-child. He was given a life of free time, free love, and financial independence after writing a hit song. He's single, unemployed, and quite content. So imagine his astonishment when Fiona, a needy single mom, and her bizarrely charming 11-year-old son, Marcus, come in next door and shatter his ideal life. When Marcus starts dropping by his house unannounced, Will is unsure about becoming a kid's new best buddy, until, of course, Will realizes that ladies find single dads irresistible. That changes everything, and a deal is struck: Marcus will pretend to be Will's kid in exchange for being allowed to hang out at Will's house. Will begins to enjoy the visits and even finds himself watching out for the child before he recognizes it.
