American Gladiators

NBC and Citytv in Canada showed American Gladiators. The show pits amateur athletes against each other and the show's "gladiators" in strength, agility, and endurance events. It's a recreation of the 1989–1996 series with aspects of the 1990s UK version. Former American League umpire Al Kaplon also refereed Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story. Van Earl Wright provides play-by-play. Season 1 was filmed in Culver City, California. Season 2 moved to LA Sports Arena. Reveille and MGM Television produce it. 12 million people watched American Gladiators' two-hour launch on January6, 2008. The season 1 finale aired on Sunday, February17,2008, at 7:00 ET/PT. Season 2 debuted with a two-hour broadcast on NBC on May12, 2008. Season 2 ended at 8:00 ET/PT on August4, 2008. Season 2's finale consisted of the third semifinal round followed by the finals, while Season 1's finale was all finals.
