Chris Lilley created and stars in the Australian mockumentary television series Angry Boys. Continuing the mockumentary format of his previous series, the show examines the challenges encountered by young men in the twenty-first century, including their influences, pressures, aspirations, and desires. Lilley portrays many characters in Angry Boys, including S.mouse, an American rapper, Jen, a deceptive Japanese mother, Blake Oakfield, a champion surfer, Ruth "Gran" Sims, a guard at a juvenile prison center, and her grandkids, South Australian twins Daniel and Nathan Sims. The series is a co-production between ABC and HBO, with a pre-sale to BBC Three in the United Kingdom. Angry Boys, which was filmed in Melbourne, Los Angeles, and Tokyo, debuted on ABC1 on May 11, 2011 at 9:00 p.m.
