Are You Afraid of the Dark? is a horror/fantasy anthology television series co-created by Canadians and Americans. The original series was co-produced by Cinar, a Canadian corporation, and Nickelodeon, an American company. The show was shot in Richmond, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec, including its outskirts. The pilot episode "The Tale of the Twisted Claw" broadcast on October 31, 1991 in the United States and October 1990 in Canada. Do you have a fear of the dark? was shown on Nickelodeon's SNICK from August 15, 1992 until April 20, 1996. From October 30, 1990 until June 11, 2000, the series was also broadcast on the Canadian television network YTV. Nickelodeon rebooted the sitcom with new directors, writers, and actors from 1999 to 2000, which also aired on SNICK. Tucker was the only original cast member to return for the sixth and seventh seasons, however Ross Hull returned for the ending miniseries, which deviated from the show's established pattern by blurring the boundary between plot and "reality."
