Shed Productions, which later created Footballers' Wives and Waterloo Road, produced the series, which was televised in 17 countries. It is set in the fictional women's prison of Larkhall and follows the prisoners and staff of G Wing through a variety of serious and amusing themes. The UK broadcast rights were purchased by CBS Drama in2010, and the series has been rerun on a regular basis since then— as of September2012, the channel is re-running the series in a late-night time slot.
