Bates Motel
A "current prequel" to the film Psycho, which was released in1960, describing the life of Norman Bates and his mother Norma before to the events that were portrayed in Alfred Hitchcock's film, albeit in a different fictional town and in a more modern environment than was seen in Hitchcock's film. The events of the first season take place in the aftermath of Norma's husband's passing, when she and her son Norman make the decision to start a new life together by purchasing a motel in a seaside town in Oregon.
