Call of the Wildman is an American reality show that airs on the network Animal Planet. The show is currently on its third season. The show follows the adventures of "The Turtleman," a Kentucky woodsman named Ernie Brown, Jr. Brown runs a business to get rid of animals that bother people. With the help of his friend Neal James and his dog Lolly, he catches the animals without hurting them and lets them go back into the wild. Most of the show is filmed near Brown's home in Lebanon, Kentucky. At age 7, Brown started catching snapping turtles in ponds near his home. Animal Planet producers heard about him after an episode of Kentucky Educational Television's Kentucky Afield show that showed him catching turtles with his bare hands went viral on YouTube. After network executives went to see Brown in person and did some initial filming, they decided to make a 12-episode season of the show with the working title The Turtleman of Wild Kentucky. Soon after, the title was changed to Call of the Wildman, which is a reference to Brown's unique yell that is used to mark his actions throughout the series. The series was Animal Planet's most-watched show in the fourth quarter of 2011 and was picked up for a second, 16-episode season that started in June 2012. Animal Planet re-released the series, called Call of the Wildman: More Live Action, in October 2012 with extra features and trivia.
