Isla Wallis, who is 16 years old, runs away to the remote mining town where she was born after finding out that her real father is in prison for killing the mother she never knew. She is angry that she has been lied to her whole life and feels like she has been cheated. There, she finds out about a series of horrible murders of First Nation women, which may have had something to do with the death of her mother. Isla starts to find out the shocking truth behind these brutal crimes with the help of Tina, a local who knows how things work.
