Crossbones
In1715, the evil pirate Edward Teach, a.k.a. Blackbeard, lords over a rogue nation of thieves, outlaws, and miscreant sailors on the Bahamian island of New Providence, the first functioning democracy in the Americas. This is a place like no other on Earth-half shantytown, part marauder's paradise-and a growing menace to international trade. Tom Lowe, a highly accomplished undercover assassin, is dispatched to the buccaneers' sanctuary in order to assassinate the smart and seductive Blackbeard. However, the closer Lowe gets to his goal, the more he realizes that his mission is far from straightforward. Lowe cannot help but respect Blackbeard's political beliefs, as his hunger for knowledge knows no borders-or laws. Lowe, though, isn't the only threat to Blackbeard's power. He's a man with many evil adversaries and one major flaw: a fiercely driven lady he can't ignore.
