Richard Poole, a detective inspector, is given the assignment of moving to the island of Sainte Marie in the Caribbean. Richard is completely unprepared for the manner of life in the Caribbean; he abhors the heat, the sea, and the sand, and he isn't accustomed to the Sainte Marie method of policing. Richard spends each week collaborating with the mysterious Camille in order to solve complex and intriguing homicides.
