Dramarama

The term Dramarama was given to a children's anthology programme that aired on ITV in the United Kingdom between the years 1983 and 1989. It typically featured dramatic content with a science fiction or supernatural slant. Anna Home, who was serving as the head of children's and youth programming at TVS at the time, was the brains behind the creation of the series; nevertheless, production responsibilities were distributed among the majority of the regional ITV franchise holders. As a result, each episode served as its own stand-alone production, complete with its very own cast and crew, right up to and including the executive producer. To a considerable extent, Dramarama served as a platform for up-and-coming artists to demonstrate their skills. Among those who got their start thanks to Dramarama are Anthony Horowitz, Paul Abbott, Kay Mellor, Janice Hally, Tony Kearney, David Tennant, and Ann Marie Di Mambro. It was one of the final credits that Dennis Spooner received. Because of the overwhelming response to "Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest," one of the episodes that aired on Dramarama, "Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest" was spun off into its own series the next year. It was centered on a large foster household and featured Lee Ross as the main character. The pilot for the television series Children's Ward, titled "Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night," was adapted by Granada to become a full-length episode. During CITV's Old Skool Weekend, which celebrated the channel's 30th anniversary, it was also rebroadcast for the first time since its initial transmission on January 5, 2013. The episode "Back To Front" from Series 7 was shown again on January 6, 2013, as another component of CITV's 30th anniversary Old Skool Weekend. This episode is remarkable for including a mirror image of the Yorkshire Television logo card at the end of the episode.
