The Diclonius is a mutated human sapien that is supposed to be selected by God and would eventually become the death of mankind. They have two horns growing out of their skulls, and they have a "sixth sense" that allows them the ability to telekinetically manipulate objects. Because of the potentially lethal nature of their power, the government has chosen to confine them in labs after having them apprehended. Lucy, a young and crazy Diclonius, manages to break free of her constraints and viciously murder most of the guards in the laboratory before getting shot in the head as she tries to flee. She is able to stay alive and eventually finds herself washed up on a beach, where she is discovered by two young people named Kouta and Yuka. In light of the fact that she no longer had any of her previous memories, she was given the name "Nyuu" after the one and only word that she is now capable of uttering, and Kouta and Kouta's friend allowed her to stay at their house. On the other hand, it would appear that the nefarious "Lucy" is not dead quite yet...
