The Everglades is an American crime-and-adventure TV show that ran for one season and in reruns from 1961 to 1962. Ron Hayes played Constable Lincoln Vail, a police officer for the made-up Everglades County Patrol. He traveled around the Florida Everglades in an airboat, which was often the show's main focus. Hayes was an actor and stuntman from northern California. He loved being outside and caring for the environment. Gordon Casell played Vail's boss, Chief Anderson, in five of the 38 half-hour episodes. Steve Brodie played Captain Andy Benson three times, while Dan Chandler played Vail's sidekick, airboat guide Pete Hammond, twice. Burt Reynolds, who would later become a famous actor, played Lew Johnson twice and Trask once. R.G. Armstrong, Victor Buono, Roger C. Carmel, Paul Carr, Jack Cassidy, Lonny Chapman, John Doucette, Penny Edwards, Frank Ferguson, Luke Halpin, Douglas Kennedy, Robert Knapp, Paul Lambert, Tyler McVey, Mala Powers, Chris Robinson, Johnny Seven, Ray Teal, Bill Travers, and Dawn Wells all appeared as guest stars. Ivan Tors made the show, and Ziv-United Artists got it to people.
