When Naota's brother departs for America to play baseball, he leaves his 17-year-old sweetheart Mamimi behind. Mamimi is sending Naota confusing signals and approaches, and he is unsure what to do about it. To make matters worse, Naota's life is turned completely upside down when he gets hit by a woman driving a Vespa. She smashes him over the head with her guitar during their first encounter, causing a horn to grow out of his forehead. She introduces herself as "Haruko," and her presence causes Naota's life to spiral even further out of control.
