Gungrave

Yasuhiro Nightow is the creator of the video game that bears the same name as the Japanese anime television series Gungrave that is now airing in Japan. The director of the series is Toshiyuki Tsuru, and Yousuke Kuroda is responsible for the writing. Madhouse Studios is in charge of production. The story follows Brandon Heat and Harry MacDowell as they move up through the Millennion crime syndicate's hierarchy over the course of the series. The anime series Gungrave ran for a total of twenty-six episodes on TV Tokyo between the dates of October 6, 2003 and March 29, 2004. The opening theme of the series is composed by Tsuneo Imahori, just like the music for the Gungrave video game and its sequel, Gungrave: Overdose. Tsuneo Imahori is also responsible for the music for the rest of the series. In 2003, Geneon Entertainment, which had previously been known as Pioneer Entertainment, made the announcement that they had obtained the license to publish Gungrave in North America. After Geneon Entertainment halted distribution of their own titles in October 2007, Geneon Entertainment and Funimation Entertainment announced on July 3, 2008 that they had reached a deal to distribute some titles in North America. Funimation Entertainment will assume exclusive rights to the manufacturing, marketing, sales, and distribution of select titles, but Geneon Entertainment will continue to hold on to the license. On December 30, 2008, it was revealed that Gungrave would be one of the many titles released as part of the agreement. As of the 26th of November in 2010, Funimation has obtained all of the necessary licenses for the anime series. On May 11, 2011, the anime series made its return to television in the United States on the Funimation Channel.
