Holocaust is an American television miniseries that aired on NBC television network in four parts in 1978. The series portrays the narrative of the Holocaust through the eyes of the Weiss family, a German Jewish family, and a rising member of the SS, who eventually turns into a vicious war criminal. During and before World War II, events such as Kristallnacht, the establishment of Jewish ghettos and later, the use of gas chambers, were brought to light by the Holocaust. Even though the miniseries won numerous prizes and was well praised, it was panned by some, notably Holocaust survivor and author Elie Wiesel.
