Hunter is an American police drama television series created by Frank Lupo, starring Fred Dryer as Sgt. Rick Hunter and Stepfanie Kramer as Sgt. Dee Dee McCall, and airing from 1984 to 1991 on NBC. However, Kramer quit the series after the sixth season to explore acting and musical chances elsewhere. Hunter partnered with two different female policemen during the seventh season. Rick Hunter, the protagonist, was a shrewd, physically imposing, and frequently rule-breaking murder detective for the Los Angeles Police Department. The show's main characters, Hunter and McCall, solve several cases by shooting the criminals to death. Stephen J. Cannell, whose business produced the series, served as the first season's executive producer.
