Iron Chef America: The Series is an American cooking show based on the Japanese show Iron Chef. It is the second American version of the show after Iron Chef USA, which did not do well. Food Network makes the show and also showed a dubbed version of the original Iron Chef. It is a cooking game show, just like the original Japanese show. In each episode, a new challenger chef goes up against one of the "Iron Chefs" in a one-hour cooking competition based on a secret ingredient or ingredients and sometimes a theme. Instead of being a remake, the show is presented as a sequel to the original Iron Chef. Mark Dacascos, an actor and martial artist, plays The Chairman. He is introduced as the nephew of the original Japanese chairman, Takeshi Kaga, who is played by Takeshi Kaga. Alton Brown is the only person who gives commentary, and Kevin Brauch is the floor reporter. Craig Marks, a composer, wrote the music. At the end of2010, he put out a soundtrack called "Iron Chef America & The Next Iron Chef." Also, regular ICA judge and Chopped host Ted Allen gave extra floor commentary for two special battles: Battle First Thanksgiving and Battle White House Produce.
