Kaboul Kitchen

The comedic French television series Kaboul Kitchen is produced by Canal+ and airs in France. Marc Victor, Allan Mauduit, and Jean-Patrick Benes were the ones who came up with the idea. The television show is based on the real-life experiences of Radio France Internationale journalist Marc Victor, who managed a restaurant in Kabul that catered to French expats until the year 2008. The first season of the show debuted on Canal+ on February 15, 2012, and it ran until March 5, of the same year. It achieved the highest ratings ever for a comedy series broadcast during primetime on Canal+. A second season of the show has been ordered, and it will consist of a total of 12 episodes. The series follows the life of French national Jacky, who has relocated to Kabul, Afghanistan, to open and run the wildly successful restaurant Kaboul Kitchen. While he is mainly concerned with financial success, his daughter Sophie, whom he has not seen in twenty years, travels to a foreign country to engage in charitable work. At the 2012 Festival International de Programmes Audiovisuels, the television series took home two Golden FIPA Awards: one for Best TV Series and one for Best TV Screenplay. Both awards were presented in the Canadian category. It was presented at MIPTV and ranked fourth on The Hollywood Reporter's list of "MIPTV A-List Projects" for the most promising series shown there. MIPTV stands for the Market for International Television.
