Disney XD aired the first episode of Kickin' It on June 13, 2011. With Jason Earles as the karate instructor at a failing martial arts academy, and a cast that includes Leo Howard, Dylan Riley Snyder, Mateo Arias, Olivia Holt, and Alex Christian Jones as his five misfit students (all played by actors in their teens), the show was created and executive produced by Jim O'Doherty. Disney XD announced the series' renewal for a second season on September20, 2011. On April2,2012, the second season of the show premiered. On November5,2012, Disney XD announced that the show had been renewed for a third season and that production would begin in January 2013 on the third season. On April1,2013, the third season of the show debuted. The third season will not feature Alex Christian Jones in any major roles. Season 4 was ordered by Disney XD in August 2013 and will premiere in 2014. To star in the Disney Channel comedy, I Didn't Do It, Olivia Holt is leaving the fourth season cast.
