After the Wright family has moved into their new house, Russel discovers, to to his astonishment, that there is a hidden door under his bed. Through this gateway, he and his dog Gus are transported to the world of Under, where he learns he is the new King and that Gus is able to communicate verbally. The inhabitants of this strange land are quick to welcome Russell and Gus into their circle of friends. Bob Wire and his evil squad are always plotting to take Russel's crown and establish themselves as all-powerful rulers of the kingdom in order to achieve their goals.
