Eiji Shimizu and Tomohiro Shimoguchi, creators of the Japanese manga series Linebarrels of Iron, developed the manga. In2005, the series was first serialized in Champion Red, a monthly shnen manga magazine published by Akita Shoten Publishing. As of November 20, 2008, there are eleven tankobons of it available. While Kouichi Hayase,14, is living an ordinary life, an accident causes him to become the pilot of an enormous robot called "Linebarrel" and to meet a mystery girl. In the February issue of Animage magazine, an anime adaptation of the manga series was revealed. Masamitsu Hidaka is the director and Gonzo is the compositor of this anime. It was not until October3,2008, that the first episode of the series was aired in Japan on TBS, the Japanese television network. Episodes were televised a total of twenty-four times between March 20, 2009, and February 25, 2010. Manga creators Shimizu and Shimoguchi chose to commemorate the series' anime adaptation by drawing one whole episode of the anime from beginning to end, albeit with a few notable differences.
