Mad Men
Mad Men takes place in the 1960s. It starts at the fictional Sterling Cooper advertising agency on Madison Avenue in New York City. Later, it moves to the nearby Time-Life Building at 1271 Avenue of the Americas, where the new Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce firm is based. According to the show's pilot, the phrase "mad men" was made up by advertisers on Madison Avenue in the 1950s as a way to talk about themselves. The show is mostly about Don Draper, who is the creative director at Sterling Cooper and a founding partner at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce, and the people in his life, both at work and outside of it. The story is about the work of the agencies and the personal lives of the characters. It shows how the moods and social norms of the 1960s United States changed all the time.
