Michael Palin sets out on an epic, revelatory journey through Iraq, one of the world's most hazardous and complex countries. Michael wants to know what life is like for the 40 million people who live in Iraq by following the Tigris River for approximately 1,000 miles from its source in eastern Turkey to the Persian Gulf. It's one of the few places on the planet he hasn't been, but he's been fascinated by it since he was a child. Iraq is sometimes referred to as the "cradle of civilisation," and Michael wishes to learn more about the country's history as well as its problematic current.
