Mission: Impossible

Bruce Geller is credited as the show's creator and original producer for the American television series Mission: Impossible. It's a record of the exploits of the Impossible Missions Force, a group of top-secret government operatives. Dan Briggs, portrayed by Steven Hill, leads the squad in the first season; Jim Phelps, portrayed by Peter Graves, takes over in subsequent years. The series' trademark features either Briggs or Phelps receiving instructions from a recording that then destroys itself, followed by Lalo Schifrin's memorable theme music. Originally airing on CBS from September 1966 until March 1973, the show was revived for a second run on ABC from 1988 to 1990 with only Graves remaining from the original cast. Afterward, in 1996, it sparked a film franchise that had Tom Cruise in the lead role.
